The PTTA leadership meets regularly to plan for community-building events. In addition, meetings provide the PTTA leadership an opportunity to provide updates on community events, share volunteer opportunities, and solicit ideas on how to continue to enhance the school experience. PTTA Meetings are open to anyone in the community, and dates and times are posted on the CDS calendar and announced at Friday assemblies.
The leadership roles below represent a number of positions that may be utilized by the PTTA to accomplish its work. Any member of the PTTA may hold these leadership positions. The PTTA leadership includes:
Co-Chairs: Organize and lead the PTTA; chair meetings; serve on the CDS
Board of Trustees;
maintain communication with the Assistant Head of School and administration regarding PTTA activities and contributions; work with PTTA members to identify individuals and groups to carry out activities and plans; oversee the strategic direction of the PTTA; and work with the Director of Finance and Operations to ensure that the PTTA budget and finances are well managed and that record keeping is up to date. The roles are typically, but not limited to, two years. The PTTA co-chairs are ex-officio, voting members of the CDS Board of Trustees.
School Spirit / Partnerships Coordinator: Brings creativity and enthusiasm to building school spirit and strengthening community partnerships. Works with PTTA Co-Chairs to energize events and programs that reflect the PTTA mission and foster meaningful connections across the school community.
Marketing / Communications Coordinator: Leads the creative vision for PTTA merchandise and messaging, bringing energy and school spirit to everything shared with the community. Partners with PTTA Co-Chairs to design and promote SWAG and communications that reflect the PTTA’s mission and spark excitement across campus.
Classroom Liaison Coordinator: Supports the team of classroom liaisons as they build strong connections between families, teachers, and the broader CDS community. Helps lead efforts to welcome families, support communication across the school, and coordinate efforts that educate, engage, and show appreciation for faculty and staff.
Class Liaisons: Serves as a key connector between families, teachers, and the broader CDS community. In partnership with classroom teachers, liaisons create a welcoming, informed, and inclusive environment for all families. Liaisons share important updates, encourage participation in events, support volunteer coordination, and model positive, open communication. They help build a strong class community while promoting the values and mission of CDS.
Parent Volunteer Coordinator: Helps foster a culture of joyful participation by connecting families with meaningful volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Partners with PTTA Co-Chairs to support outreach, coordination, and communication, making it easy and rewarding for families to get involved and contribute to the CDS community.
Farm Family Coordinators: Train new family farmers and handle scheduling and coordination of the family farmers; maintain a calendar of assignments and send out reminders; serve as main contacts for family farmers on weekends and holidays.
Parent Education Coordinator: Member of SPEAK and other relevant education policy and advocacy groups; prepares a shortlist of recommended parent education opportunities for the CDS community; partners with other Bay Area schools to organize and promote parent education events.
