Every January, the Board of Trustees sets tuition for the upcoming school year. Full tuition for the 2023-2024 school year is $42,500 for preschool-grade 4, and $43,300 for grades 5-8.
Our Sliding Scale Tuition ranges from 5% of full tuition to 93% of full tuition. Tuition includes books, supplies, and field trips, including annual overnight field trips in the Middle School. Tuition for the preschool includes programming available until 6pm.
Families may choose to pay $13.25 per hour per child for hours used, on a monthly basis.
For families consistently utilizing the Extended Day Program for their child for more than 12 hours per week, paying an annual lump sum is usually the most cost-effective option. Annual Full Care ranges from $0-$5,200 depending on Sliding Scale Tuition.
Students are enrolled for the entire academic year. There are two ways tuition can be paid. Both plans require families to sign an enrollment agreement and pay a non-refundable enrollment deposit equal to 10% of the annual tuition, which must accompany the signed enrollment agreement. This deposit will be credited to tuition.
The single payment plan gives you the convenience of one payment to cover tuition for the year. The tuition balance, less the deposit paid at enrollment or re-enrollment, is due on June 1.
The ten-month payment plan gives you the flexibility of spreading the annual tuition over ten payments, paid monthly from June through April, with no tuition payment due for the current school year in February, as a nonrefundable deposit for the following school year is due in February. Arranged through the Blackbaud Tuition Management program, we automatically deduct your payments from an account you designate on either the 1st or the 15th of each month. No interest is charged for this service, but there is a yearly set-up fee. If you choose this plan, you will be required to purchase tuition refund insurance.
Under both plans, tuition refund insurance is available through A.W.G. Dewar, Inc (view brochure). This plan provides partial insurance coverage in the event of a separation or withdrawal from CDS for a variety of reasons. The premium for this plan is based on tuition, and for 2022-2023 it is 1.05% of tuition. Enrollment is handled by automatic billing on the June statement. Families using the ten-month payment plan are required to purchase tuition refund insurance; the school strongly suggests that all families purchase tuition insurance.
Tuition does not cover the entire cost of educating a child at CDS. During the year, we will ask you to contribute additional financial support, to the best of your ability, to our fundraising programs.
