Extended Day Program

The CDS Extended Day Program is designed to achieve a balance of engaging educational activities and supervised free play. Children may choose from a wide variety of afternoon fun, such as sports and games, study hall, building, art, music, cooking, gardening, and community service projects.

Hours & Rates

Hours: A variety of schedules are offered to fit each family’s needs. The Extended Program is available Monday through Friday after school until 6:00 p.m. every day school is in session (except Grandparents & Special Friends Day, the day before Winter Break, and Graduation).

Rates: Full-day care (8am-6pm) is included in tuition for all preschoolers. For all other ages and grades, the hourly extended program rate is $16 and is individually adjusted according to each family's sliding scale tuition. Families may also opt into full-year care for $5,200. Prorated full-year care is available, and ask about our early bird pricing for full-year care!

After School Program

The core of the Extended Day Program, our after school program, is offered from dismissal until 6:00 p.m. and includes age-appropriate combinations of academic and recreational activities.

Taking full advantage of our protected acre of land, experienced teachers create a dynamic environment that is fun and engaging and provides ample time for play.

Enrichments

Taught by CDS teachers, community teachers, and instructors from accredited local organizations, three sessions of exciting enrichment classes are offered each year (Fall, Winter, and Spring). Classes meet for one hour a week after school and cost varies, depending on the nature of the class. Enrichment class are additional (optional) opportunities for structured, hands-on learning experiences and carry an additional fee (all enrichments are sliding scale based on tuition level). Vacation & Conference Camps

On days when school is closed for breaks or family conferences, Extended Program offers all-day camps.

Camp activities will take place either at the 333 Campus, Boys and Girls Club, or at a field trip location. Camp registration will open within two weeks of each camp date and will take place via Homeroom.

Daily schedule:

8 am - 3 pm: Camp activities (included in the cost of camp)
3 pm - 6 pm: Campers sign in to the extended program, and snack is provided (aftercare hourly rate applies)

What ages/grade levels do you serve?

All students at CDS, Preschool to 8th Grade, are eligible for the Extended Program.
How do I register?

No registration is needed for our drop-in care. All students are pre-registered and can attend the program whenever needed.

Registration is required for enrichment classes and school break or conference camps. Register on Homeroom.
What is the cost?
There is no cost associated with the Preschool Extended Program. There is a separate cost for Preschool Afterschool Enrichments, which varies by class. Families with tuition adjusted through our sliding-scale tuition program are eligible for one free class per student per session. There is also an additional cost for school break or conference camps.

For our regular drop-in extended care, TK to 8th grade students may choose one of the following payment options:
- Annual fee: $5200 for unlimited use for the entire school year
- Hourly: $16/hr, which is charged by the minute
Annual and hourly rates are adjusted by tuition level as part of our sliding-scale tuition program. Costs for Enrichment classes are additional and vary by class. Families with tuition adjusted through our sliding-scale tuition program are eligible for one free class per student per session. There is also an additional cost for school break or conference camps.
What type of programming happens after school?

There is always lots happening after school! Students are moving in and out of various programs, including outdoor play, staff-run indoor activities, enrichment classes, music lessons, tutoring, group OT, and more!
Do you provide snacks?

Yes! Each day, we provide a healthy afternoon snack.

Are there fees for late pick-ups?

Yes. Beginning at 6:03pm, a $5/minute late fee is charged until your student is picked up.
How are children grouped during the program?

Preschool students are kept together as a separate group.

All students in grades TK-8th attending aftercare share space and spend time together. Our younger students in TK/K and older students needing a quiet study space have a daily breakout space.
What types of enrichment activities do you offer?

We offer enrichment programs that cover a wide range of topics and interests for all ages. Past and popular classes include: Sewing, Capoeira, Gymnastics, Theater, Math Circles, and Chess.
What are the program hours?

Extended Program runs from dismissal until 6pm each day.
Do you assist with homework?

We host a daily homework room for 3rd graders and up, starting at 4pm.
