Welcome to CDS Bulldog Athletics!

CDS Bulldog Athletics is an after school sports program that offers six sports over three seasons during the academic year. Students can participate in cross-country, volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, futsal, and track and field. CDS is part of the San Francisco Athletic League (SFAL). Other participating schools include Live Oak, Burke’s, Lycée Français, SF Friends School, SF School, Kittredge, Synergy, CAIS, Presidio Hill School, and KIPP Academy.

All middle school students are welcome to participate in the CDS After School Sports Program. There are no cuts for CDS sports. If league team rosters reach maximum capacity, the opportunity for students not in a league team to practice and play is made available in the form of a "club team" or developmental setting. Students can only sign up for one sport/team per season.

Fifth-grade students may participate in junior varsity cross-country, ultimate frisbee, and track and field, and in developmental teams for volleyball, basketball, and futsal. Sixth and seventh-grade students may participate at the junior varsity or varsity levels for all sports. Eighth-grade students may only participate at the varsity level for all sports.

The club/developmental teams practice one day per week and like-minded schools are contacted to arrange an exhibition game or scrimmage. Junior varsity and varsity teams practice and/or play games 2-3 days per week.

Fall Season Information

The Fall Athletics sign-up form for cross-country and volleyball will be made available in August before the new school year begins. More detailed information about season timelines, practice days, and expectations will be released at that time. The Winter sign-up form will be sent out in late October and the Spring one in late January.

COVID Update: We definitely plan to offer cross country running and, if city parks and rec allow, some interscholastic meet dates in the fall of 2021. Volleyball is more of a challenge because it is typically an indoor sport, but we hope to be able to offer it at least in part, possibly outdoors if need be.
