Music on the Yard
Our preschool and kindergarten students were treated to a lively music performance this morning!
The musicians were La Familia Peña-Govea, a local group composed of family members who perform songs in Spanish and English from Mexico and other parts of Latin America. After warming up the crowd with few numbers, they soon had the students and teachers up on their feet singing and dancing! Thank you to preschool teacher Jasmin Flores for connecting with this amazing group and bringing them to CDS.
La Family Peña-Govea has been a staple of the Mission's musical, education, and activist art community for decades, playing the trumpet, guitarron, guitar, accordion, and more. Rene, the family's eldest daughter, has released a children’s album which you can listen to on Spotify.
