Note from Molly & Anthony on DACA

Together with CDS Director of Inclusion Anthony Witte, I recently sent this message out to our faculty, staff, and families. We would like to share it with the wider community as well, both in English and in a Spanish translation:

We are saddened by the recent announcement of the Trump Administration’s executive order to end the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program. As an inclusive community, we want to reiterate our firm support of all our families, including “Dreamers.” We recognize that the recent executive order places enormous stress on the children and families affected, which can have both short and long-term effects. Click here for a guide to understanding stress related to immigration status. We hope you will talk about what’s happening with your family. If your children are feeling especially anxious, encourage them to reach out to their teachers or one of our two counselors: Kate Corliss in Lower School ( and Wendy Walker in Middle School (

We also recognize that the executive order surrounding the proposed end of DACA can be confusing, so we hope this list of resources and definitions from NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools) can help clarify what’s going on and when.

We hope that everyone will take action by urging Congress to fight this executive order, retain DACA, and protect the Dreamers. My name is ____, and I calling to express my discontent with the White House’s decision to end DACA and ask Senator/Representative ______ to support legislative action that will protect immigrants affected by the termination of DACA. Eight hundred thousand lives are affected because of the president’s decision to end DACA, and now it is time for Congress to pass a law that would provide a pathway to citizenship for this group of immigrants. Does Senator/Representative _____ currently support the Dream Act or Hope Act?

All of our children are the future.


Estamos profundamente tristes por el reciente anuncio de que la administración presidencial está poniendo fin al programa DACA (Consideracion De Acción Deiferida Para Los Llegados En La Infancia).

Como una comunidad inclusiva y unida, queremos repetir que apoyamos a todas nuestras familias, incluyendo a Soñadores/Dreamers. Reconocemos que la reciente orden ejecutiva pone enorme presión sobre los niños y las familias afectadas, y que pueden tener efectos sobre ustedes.
