More from the Innovation Lab

In the 3D Modeling after school enrichments, students are encouraged to work on projects of their own design. One student decided that he needed a device that his cell phone could sit on while it was charging instead of it being set on the floor. He designed a charging shelf that would sit on top on his phone charger plug and allow the cell phone to be placed on the shelf.

He used digital calipers to get an exact measurement of the charger plug so it would be a snug fit and he added his name so that his phone wouldn't be confused with other members in his house.

Another feature he added was a cylinder that extended out the side that the extra phone cable could wrap around the shelf. He used Tinkercad to design the shelf and printed his design using the Ultimaker2 3D printer in the lab.
