601 Dolores: Home of Our New Middle School Campus

In August 2011, the school purchased the historic 601 Dolores Street property, just down the street from our founding campus at 333 Dolores Street. 601 Dolores provides 18,000 square feet of space that allows us to both house our growing middle school, and enhance our involvement in the Mission Dolores neighborhood. Our middle school students began class in 601 Dolores in April 2015, and now have the opportunity to:

  • Gather and perform in Founders’ Hall
  • Share knowledge and skills in the Innovation Lab for Digital Arts
  • Discover the natural sciences in two state-of-the-art labs
  • Practice sustainable agriculture in a rooftop garden
  • Learn about farm-to-table nutrition in the teaching kitchen
  • Collaborate and make interdisciplinary connections in nine dynamic classrooms
  • Conduct small-group and independent projects in breakout study spaces

CDS students are known for their engagement with the world around them. They are actively involved in projects that impact their neighborhood, from volunteering in gardens and working with neighboring seniors to participating in a “get out the vote” campaign and gathering food and clothing for those in need. The expansion to 601 Dolores allows us to have an even greater impact on our community.
