Welcome to the new school year! We are so excited to welcome everyone back to 601 to meet new friends and reconnect with familiar ones. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We are looking forward to a wonderful year with your children and sharing in all of their discoveries and changes ahead.
School Day Logistics Start of School – Monday through Thursday
The doors of 601 will open at 8:00 a.m. with early study hall available from 7:30-8:00 a.m. Classes begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Students arriving to class after that time will be marked late.
7th and 8th Grade PE
For 7th and 8th graders who have PE first period, the doors to the Boys & Girls Club will open at 8:15 a.m. If they need to be dropped off earlier than that, please drop them off at 601.
Friday Assembly Mornings
5th and 6th graders can be dropped off at the Boys & Girls Club starting at 8:00 a.m. on Fridays. Please use the entrance on Guerrero Street. 7th and 8th graders will gather on the yard at 333 once the front gate opens at 8:00 a.m.
End of the School Day/Pick-Up
The Middle School day ends at 3:30 p.m. Please be sure to follow these guidelines to help maintain a safe environment and foster positive relationships with our neighbors:
Only use the white zone on 19th Street for pick-up and drop-off.
Please do not stop on Dolores Street, as it creates unsafe traffic patterns.
Please do not stop on the opposite side of 19th Street, as that creates jams.
Please do not use or block any driveways on Dolores or 19th Streets.
Especially when waiting on Dolores, please be aware and courteous towards our neighbors, as they are working hard to accommodate us as well.
Along this same line, please do not use any driveways to park temporarily or turn around on 19th Street.
If your child has self-signout, but you are still picking them up:
Please pre-arrange a pick-up spot that is at least 2 blocks away from 601.
Please remind your child that, once they sign out, they must immediately walk away from the building towards their pickup location.
If you're waiting in the car line to pick up your child but they are not yet in the lobby, please expect to be asked to circle the block.
Please do not pull over further down 19th Street, but circle the block coming back around on Dolores to make a right back onto 19th.
Please do not get out of your car.
Please be sure to use the brightly-colored name signs that we distributed. It is much easier and faster for faculty to read the signs than identify drivers.
If you need a replacement sign, let us know and we will be happy to make a new one for you.
Walk-up parents, please be sure that your child is signed out using your Kinderlime code.
All parents, please be sure to notify the front desk early if your child is going home with someone else.

Congratulations to Barbie!
Please join us in wishing 5th Grade Humanities Teacher Barbie Brannon the best, as she is expecting a little one to arrive in November! We are opening up a search for her maternity leave substitute so, if you know someone who would be a great addition to our community, please direct them to our careers webpage at http://careers.cds-sf.org/.
