Daniel Handler Visits CDS

Wednesday, May 24, 2017

Today, our Eighth Grade Humanities class was visited by one of the Bay Area's most notorious literary figures: Daniel Handler, better known to fans around the world as A Series of Unfortunate Events author Lemony Snicket. Outside of the Snicket universe, Mr. Handler has also written several novels under his own name. The most recent one is We Are Pirates, a San Francisco-set tale of a modern-day aspiring buccaneer which our eighth graders read last month. During his presentation, he discussed this novel in particular as well as his creative process in general. The students were excited to see him, and they had lots of insightful questions to ask. Thanks to Mr. Handler for coming in and to Humanities teacher Terry Ashkinos for hosting him!
