high school Placement
"This past fall, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting current CDS eighth graders during their high school admission process. Time and time again, without prompting, these CDS students unabashedly expressed their genuine love and LOYALTY to the school. It was a window into their CDS lives, and I was sincerely touched and impressed by their appreciation of all they have gained as CDS students.” - Admission Officer at a San Francisco High School Josée Mayette, Middle School Head, is responsible for high school counseling and placement. At CDS, high school counseling begins in the spring of a student’s seventh grade year. At that time, Josée meets individually with each student and his or her parents/guardians to develop a list of appropriate high schools, go over the admission process, establish a timetable and set expectations for the coming year. In the fall, all eighth grade students participate in a Selectives class called "Navigating High School Admissions" that helps them organize and prepare for the high school admission process. Throughout the student's eighth grade year, there are many opportunities to discuss everything from applications and recommendations to decisions about high schools as Josée guides our middle school students and their families through the high school admission process. The goal of our high school counseling process is to make sure each student finds the high school that is the right fit for him or her. 2006 was a landmark year in the history of Children’s Day School as we graduated our first class of 17 eighth graders. Now joined by the Classes of 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, our alumni are tremendous ambassadors for the School—confident, self-aware students who are curious and eager learners.
